From the Appium Desktop client, open Appium Inspector by. Just install Appium Desktop, then after starting the server, click the magnifying glass icon. The following video illustrates how you can use Perfecto with Appium Inspector. Click on View, and your mobile screen gets projected on your laptop/desktop, as shown below: 1. Appium Inspector is an alternative to Perfecto Object Spy. It also lets you perform basic actions on these elements. After starting with the Appium Server, the tester can start the Inspector Session by clicking on the Search icon on the Appium logs screen. Appium Desktop offers an Inspector that you can use to look up or locate elements of an application.

It works well with both real devices as well as simulators or emulators. Running Appium from in side the attached DMG itself is not supported, and will not work. Appium Desktop Inspector is used to identify the UI elements of the application being tested. Search for and install (or update) XCode version 9 or later. If you're on macOS, you will need to install Appium Desktop apps by copying the app from the downloaded DMG file to your own file system (the best place is the "Applications" folder). Open the App Store application on the MacBook (not iPad). If you are reporting an issue with Appium Desktop, always be sure to include both the version of Appium Desktop and the version of the Appium Server which is in use (see below). Appium Desktop is released on its own cadence and has its own versioning system. Appium Desktop is a graphical frontend to Appium with additional tools. It further allows the user to select and interact with elements, providing a list of element locator strategies, which can be used in their automation and testing scripts. Note that Appium Desktop is not the same thing as Appium. Appium Inspector is an Appium Client which allows the user to connect to a large variety of cloud Appium platforms. If you encounter a problem updating, simply delete or uninstall the app and re-download the latest from the link above.
